Freedom Game Returns to Cincinnati

Major League Baseball and the Cincinnati Reds have announced that Great American Ball Park will be the host site for the fourth annual Major League Baseball Civil Rights Game. The Cincinnati Reds will play against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Major League Baseball Civil Rights Game is be a regular season game and played at a major league ballpark. The Civil Rights Game pays tribute to one of our country's most significant eras of social change and honors Major League Baseball's involvement in the historic struggle through which legendary African American players broke barriers and made important contributions to American society. "Major League Baseball is committed to the significance and impact of this very important event," said Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig. "Major League Baseball is excited to bring the Civil Rights Game to its new regular-season host City of Cincinnati. We hope that the community will embrace its importance and its message as we remember and honor the African American pioneers of our game."

The game will culminate two days of events commemorating the Civil Rights Movement.

"As the final stop to freedom at the northern end of the Underground Railroad, Cincinnati played a significant role in the struggle to free our country from slavery and civil rights injustice," said Robert H. Castellini, Reds President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are proud that our team and our city will be involved with Major League Baseball and the Civil Rights Game in helping promote awareness of how baseball played a part in one of the most significant social changes in our nation's history." "Cincinnati is proud to host the first regular-season Civil Rights Game," said Mayor Mark Mallory. "Cincinnati was the first point for freedom for many people. The Civil Rights game is an excellent opportunity to continue our ongoing national efforts to advance civil rights." Cincinnati, a city rich with civil rights history, once served as a heavily traveled site in the passage to freedom for slaves during the years leading up to the American Civil War. The hidden trails, which became known as the "Underground Railroad," were the sites where many men and woman overcame harsh conditions and many dangers to free themselves from slavery. A stone's throw away from the Great American Ball Park is the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, which opened its doors in 2004 and now serves as a reminder of the many stories about freedom's heroes and challenges everyone to take courageous steps for the freedoms of today.

"Cincinnati was the first point for freedom for many people. The Civil Rights game is an excellent opportunity to continue our ongoing national efforts to advance civil rights.” -- Mayor Mark Mallory

Events start Friday May 14, 2010 through Sunday May 16, 2010The Civil Rights Game is Saturday night, May 15, 2010 vs. St. Louis Cardinals.

The 2010 Gillette Civil Rights Game promises to be just as memorable as last year’s game at Great American Ball Park. Purchase discount tickets from the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and bring your family and friends for an evening of baseball, fun and memories.

Madea's Big Happy Family Review

Tyler Perry's 'Madea's Big Happy Family' hit Cincinnati April 7th at the Cintas Center with a lot of laughs. I love how Madea stops the show and puts the people in the audience on front street. Madea checked those for walking in late and even stopped the show a few times when he saw someone recording the show/taking pictures with their cell phones.

As always the story line was inspiring, insightful and a reminder of how important it is to have a relationship with God.

I found this on snippet of the play on Youtube and you can see how Perry was not having the being tardy and recording the play:

The singing was amazing and I really enjoyed the two guys Perry found on Youtube singing the Brady Bunch theme song, the Craig Lewis Band. These guys totally stole the show as far as singing.

If you missed the show in Cincinnati, don't worry, it will be back in Ohio in Columbus on May 4th at the Nationwide Arena and on May 5th in Toledo at the Lucas County Arena.

Cincinnati's New Moon DVD Midnight Release Party Brought Out Twi-Fans

Cincinnati, Tri-County Mall: Suncoast Video hosted a Twilight-New Moon midnight release party with New Moon stars Kiowa Gordon (Embry) and Tinsel Korey (Emily) Friday night (March 19th). The turn out was huge and fans were hyped.

The fans were there decked out in there Twilight gear from sweatshirts, tee-shirts, jewelry (necklaces, charm-bracelets, and tote-bags.

I decided to drive over since the mall is only 5 minutes away from my house and took my 13 year old son and 8 year old daughter (she is a Twilight fan). The mall had over 300 people waiting in line to meet Kiowa and Tinsel.

Kiowa and Tinsel personally autographed 300 New Moon DVD's. The meet and greet had some restrictions: You could only take a picture (weren't allowed to take photos with them), ask 2 questions and you were allowed to shake their hands.

Both Kiowa and Tinsel were very friendly. Kiowa is much cuter in person and Tinsel is a pure natural beauty (I loved her hair).

My daughter was so shy. Tinsel was very sweet, told her to come over and shake her hand. After meeting both of them my daughter said walking away she would never wash her hands again because she just met two movie stars. I just laughed. So thanks Kiowa and Tinsel for making my 8 year old's day, that is something she will remember (she immediately went to school and bragged to all her friends).
