Linkin Parks Haiti Project Come's Together

Linkin Park quickly pulled together to put together new music for download donations to help out Haiti Relief.

The Download to Donate for Haiti project features new music from some of the industry's top musicians.

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda spoke with VH1 about the project and its purpose:

"Download to Donate has come together very, very quickly," Shinoda explained of the project, featuring brand-new music that can now be downloaded in exchange for a donation to Haiti relief efforts. "It was an idea as of Thursday — and as of right now, we have nine songs up."

Shinoda plans to add more tracks in the upcoming days — each from a major act who donated their track in response to the January 12 earthquake. "We ask that you donate, but you don't have to — if all you can afford is to spread the word, embed the widget, share it on Facebook, Twitter, whatever, then that will be good enough," explained the rapper/songwriter/guitarist for Linkin Park, whose new track "Not Alone" is offered alongside contributions from Peter Gabriel, Alanis Morissette, Dave Matthews Band and more. "We're hoping to raise a lot of money for a lot of people who need it in Haiti.

"We had a demo [for 'Not Alone'] — the music was laid out, we had done the song a little while ago ... we just never used it because we never thought it was done," Shinoda remembered of the origins of their track. "[After the tragedy in Haiti], we listened to the demo again, essentially scrapped all the words, rewrote the words ... when you've got that idea and emotional charge in you and you put that in the lyrics, for me it does make better lyrics." Those lyrics include, "I break down/ Fear is sinking in/ The cold comes/ Racing through my skin/ Searching for a way to get to you/ Through the storm you go, giving up your home/ Go, leaving all you've known/ You are not alone."

"There's an authenticity and a passion that you can hear in Chester's voice on this track; we literally wrote [the new lyrics] via e-mail, before he had flown out from Arizona to L.A. [to record them]," Shinoda said.

Part of the remarkable speed behind their reaction to Haiti, Shinoda added, can be attributed to a philanthropic groundwork the band has had in place for a half-decade. "We started our organization, Music for Relief, back in 2005 after the tsunami in South Asia," he explained. "Music for Relief's goal is to provide relief, funds and awareness in the wake of natural disasters ... this is the first time that the technology has been available to do something like this; just a few years ago, it wouldn't be possible for artists to turn around songs so quickly, in a matter of days."

Shinoda hopes fans will keep their ears — and their hearts — open for more, as he plans to upload additional tracks in the days to come.

"By the way, I should say that Music for Relief [donates] 100 percent of the funds," he added. "We're just a conduit; everybody's working for free and everybody's working hard."

Mariah Carey Beats Beyonce and Proves She is the Real Fan Favorite

Mariah Carey beats Beyonce and proves she is still the fan favorite at the People Choice Awards.

The time came to give the award for Favorite R&B Artist and the nominees were announced, Beyonce, Mariah Carey,Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and Usher. As always I said who I thought would win, I guess Beyonce because in 2009 she was every where (radio, TV, tour, movies, magazine covers & etc.) I was shocked when they said Mariah Carey. Happy but shocked. I am happy that the fans voted for Mariah because she is a true talent to be reckoned with. Her voice is amazing and she broke Elvis's record for most #1's on billboard.

So, congrats Mariah the win was well deserved.

Old School Flashback: Snow's Informer

SayWhatNews old school flashback of the week is "Informer" by Snow. I had the cass-single of this song and bumped it a many of days on Sunday afternoons when we went to the strip and the park to hang out.

Back in 1993, Snow's single "Informer" became one of 1993's biggest hits. Back then fans were reluctant to listen to a white rapper but instantly enjoyed and became a fan of Snow's fast rhymes mixed with Jamaican style sound. This was way before Eminem hit the music scene and became known for his amazing rhyme skills and not the color of his skin.

"Informer” held the #1 spot on the Billboard Singles Chart for seven weeks in 1993, entering up a Guinness Book Of World Records as the biggest selling reggae single and highest charting reggae single in history. “Informer” went on to sell 8 million units worldwide and 3.2 million units in the U.S.

Snippet from Biography: “I was in jail and I had a dream I was flying over all these houses, me and my mother. She was picking out houses. When I got out of jail, the first thing I bought was a car for me and a house for her.” - SNOW

A decade ago, Darrin O’Brien entered prison a troubled young thug and left an international recording star. It was the kind of story a Hollywood screenwriter could hardly have topped, a nigh impossible yet classic tale of uncanny timing and fortune. But it was all very real. And it was exactly the kind of cyclone experience that could have left a youthful talent like O’Brien, better known to the world as SNOW, chewed up in its wake. It didn’t.

Ten years later, SNOW is at the top of his creative game with TWO HANDS CLAPPING, his fifth and most ambitious musical statement yet. Delivering on the instant appeal of his early hits like “Informer” and “Girl I’ve Been Hurt”, TWO HANDS CLAPPING finds SNOW mastering the dance hall reggae he’s best known for, while introducing to the music new levels of pop and R&B melody that make for a sturdy offering from start-to-finish. It’s an album that will get dance floors bumping and lovers grooving – feet tapping and heads nodding. It’s a mature pop album, a pop survivor’s album. It’s a record SNOW has earned.

Nick Jonas and the Administration Perform New Song Stay

Nick Jonas and his new band the Administration performed in Washington a new song called "Stay".

Nick tweeted about the song, saying “Played a new song I wrote last night, at the show tonight called ‘Stay.’ Its about fallin’ for someone. I hope you like it when you hear it.”

Corinne Bailey Rae Big Return

Corinne Bailey Rae’s big return has music lovers waiting on pins and needles. Rae’s new single “I’d Do It All Again” video recently debuted and showcased a more mature and sensual singer. We have not heard from the singer since the untimely death of her husband back in 2008. Jason Rae was found dead on March 22, 2008 in a flat in the Hyde Park area of Leeds. A pathologist report noted the possible cause of death as a "suspected drug overdose". A post-mortem examination on the musician's body was found to be inconclusive. It was reported that Bailey Rae was not in the flat at the time of his death.

The good news is that Corinne Bailey Rae has been hard at work in the studio working on her new album “The Sea” which will be released in the US on January 26th and available in the UK on February 1st, 2010.

The British singer hit the music scene with her debut single “Like A Star” back in 2005 and was a breath of fresh air with her soulful pop-folk sound. Her next single “Put Your Record On” off her self titled album was an even bigger success landing her 7 Grammy nominations including best new artist.

Michael Jackson and Lenny Kravitz Song "Another Day" Leaked and Lenny Kravitz Sets the Record Straight About Song

Michael Jackson's unreleased song "Another Day" ft. Lenny Kravitz and some how been leaked on the internet and has the internet buzzing. According to Time:

“In 2003, he joined superstar Michael Jackson on a single titled “Another Day.” The song was supposed to appear on Jackson’s long-awaited new album. Unfortunately, the album, set for release in late 2003, was canceled. ”

Lenny Kravitz posted a video on youtube and set the record straight about the unreleased song saying he has no clue as to how or who released this song that is "locked away in my volt".

The song has been removed from Youtube due to copy right infringement. The good news is that Kravitz said it is in the works for the real song not the 1 minute and 30 minute snippet to be released for Michael Jackson fans in the way he and Michael produced it.

Watch Lenny Kravitz speak about leaked song:

Tweet Brings Us Love Again

R&B singer Tweet is finally back with new music. Her new song "Love Again" is from Tweet's new upcoming album "Love, Tweet" which is due out sometime in Spring of 2010. Tweet's new song “Love Again” was produced by Charlie Bereal and Craig Brockman.

For some reason I could not get into the song. The song is mellow groove but it just doesn't do anything for me right off the bat. I guess it would be a ok song for the album but as for being the first single, they should choose something else that will bring it for Tweet fans.

Take a listen and see what you think:

Rihanna Asked to Cover Up for Performance

Rihanna was asked to cover up for Abu Dhabi performance. Well we all know our girl Ri-Ri has been sexing up the stage lately with her costumes and shocking us each and every time. Apparently its too sexy, Rihanna has been asked to wear more clothes for her big New Year’s Eve concert in Abu Dhabi. The organizers of the events told the singer to dress conservatively in order to respect local traditions for her show at the Emirates Palace. The pay day for this event is sure to make Rihanna rethink her costume picks. She will be getting paid $500,000 for her performance.

A source told the Mirror:

“Rihanna is tearing her hair out over what to do; she wanted to put on her most eccentric and provocative show yet. She knows that she’ll have to compromise her style to fit in with local traditions but a huge part of her show is her sexy stage gear. Her people are trying to iron out all of the details for the rider which is proving to be somewhat problematic.”

Also: Rihanna Rated R given the title Best Pop Album Of 2009 by Entertainment Weekly.

Entertainment Weekly had the following to say about the album:

Best Pop Album: Rihanna – Rated R – Well, color us corrected. When we first heard Rated R (via a record-label listening session, as with several other releases on this list), we gave it a B. Since then, the insidious pleasures of the Barbadian superstar’s dark, defiantly uncommercial fourth album have sucked us in entirely. From bursts of spiky aggression (Hard) and ragga-tinged rapture (Rude Boy) to moments of pure, naked vulnerability (the Justin Timberlake-penned heartbreak symphony Cold Case Love), it’s emerged a stealth stunner.

**Here are the photos from her Abu Dhabi performance. I guess she did her best to cover-up:

Katherine McPhee New Album Unbroken

Katherine McPhee new album "Unbroken" hit the stores today Jan. 5th. The few songs that were available to listen to sound pretty good. Katherine's vocals were on point and I have to say really beautiful. The last we heard from McPhee she was working with the amazing David Foster, and I have to say you can tell the difference.

*The song "Say Goodbye" is a well written ballad that showcases McPhee's vocals. Its truly beautiful.

Unbroken Tracklist: 1. It’s Not Right

2. Had It All

3. Keep Drivin’

4. Last Letter

5. Surrender

6. Terrified featuring Jason Reeves

7. How

8. Say Goodbye

9. Faultline

Jaheim Reclaiming His Throne

Jaheim is back and ready to reclaim his throne. With his new album "Another Round" hitting the stores February 9th, the soul singer that had all the ladies weak at the knees with his sexy soulful voice is back.

The first single “Ain’t Leavin’ Without You” leaked few months ago. The up beat tempo is perfect for the dance floor and of course Jaheim sounds great.

Here is my favorite Jaheim song:
