DMX Story Comes Full Circle With VH1's Behind the Music

All though he is incarcerated, DMX's rise to fame is the anchor story relaunching VH1's hit show 'Behind the Music'. On June 7th, DMX fans and others will see the story of how Earl Simmons became DMX and see an insight to the man and his troubles with the law.

Lil' Kim Joins Jay-Z's Roc Nation Label

Female Hip-Hop rapper Lil' Kim has signed to Jay-Z's label Roc Nation. This comes as no shock since it was first rumored a while back. Now although there is no confirmation, sources say its legit and the deal has happened.

From what we have learned Jay-Z will solo produce the new album for Lil Kim which will be her big come back to the rap game.

Other female rappers have hit the scene since Lil' Kim's absence due to her legal trouble but none have been able to duplicate or out shine her spice on the mic. Lil' Kim hit the scene as a member of Junior Mafia and went on to have success as a solo artist.

Roc Nation founded in 2009 is based out of New York and provides the following services: management, music publishing and Entertainment Company.

Roc Nation is a joint venture form between Live Nation and Jay-Z and the current CEO of the company is Kanye West.

The Dream and Mariah Carey Get Sued Over Song

The Dream and Mariah Carey are being sued by a Bay Area producer and songwriter. Preston Marshall alleges in the lawsuit that The Dream, Carey, Huffman and Island Def Jam stole the song, “My Love.”

Preston Marshall and Demario Driver claim they created the original song back in 2008 when it was called “Are You the One.” According reports, the pair played the track for music marketing associate Jeff Huffman, who promised to get the track produced by some big names, but he never followed through.

“I sent the song to him via email,” Marshall said in an interview. “I never heard back from him."

Less than a year later, he said, the single "My Love," off Dream’s "Love vs. Money," was released, featuring vocals from Carey.

“I was hurt because you put a lot of time and effort into this," said Marshall. "You know, music is my life. I feed my family this way.”

Marshall and Driver are seeking $450,000 in damages for copyright infringement, international interference with economic advancement and fraud.

The Dream Destroys Aaliyah's Song One In A Million

The Dream destroys Aaliyah's song 'One In A Million'. Mega-producer/singer The Dream who has made great hits like Rihanna's smash hit 'Umbrella' and J. Holiday's hit song 'Bed', has decided to cover one of Aaliyah's all time hits 'One In A Million'. The cover in which I am assuming was suppose to be a tribute to the talent of Aaliyah ended in great destruction. All I want to know is who agreed with The Dream that this remake was a hit after it was complete? It sounds a hot mess. I am a huge fan of Aaliyah and this so called cover needs to be taken back immediately and destroyed the same way it was destroyed when making it.

The Dream is very talented in his own right but this was one of those times he made a huge MISTAKE.

During a performance in New York, R&B singer Omarion became some what shocked when female fans became too freaky. My first thoughts is where are these girls mother? Why would you act like that on stage in front of all those people, bumping and grinding, licking your tongue at Omarion's private area. I'm mean come on have some respect for yourself. Even O finally said, "what's going on" as he ran away from one girl who attempted to unbuckle his pants.

Is Lauryn Hill Coming Out With New Music Soon?

Recent photos of R&B/Hip-Hop singer Lauryn Hill have been circling the internet because she has been M.I.A. from showbiz. Hill who appeared on the red-carpet at the Tanzania Education Trust Gala in NYC on Monday, looked amazing. The appearance caused a media frenzy and people wanted to know was Lauryn gearing up to make a come back?

It has been 12 years since her platinum hit record the 'Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' and her last stage performance had people wondering if the singer was having a break down of some sort.

Well, she looked well together in the photos and TMZ caught up with her right after the event. They asked if she was coming out with new music and she said "possibly".

Ron Isley Out of Jail & New Music In The Pipeline With Lauryn Hill, T.I. & Rick Ross

After serving 3 years in prison for tax evasion the legendary R&B singer Ron Isley is back and ready to return with new music. In a recent interview with Steve Harvey the singer spoke about time in jail, family and making new music with Lauryn Hill, T.I. and Rick Ross.

“I'm overjoyed to be home and to be able to do everything that I want to do. I'm in love with this record business and I'm in love with the fans and everything and I just couldn't wait to get back to doing that.

I'm working on another album and this album is gonna mean so much. I've been thinking about it for 3 years and wondering what it was gone be like and what it was gonna be like to sing certain songs and wanting to sing certain songs and now I got that chance to do that.”

Ron Isley a.k.a. Mr. Biggs also spoke on how the stint in jail changed his life and his families.

“It changed me a whole lot. My wife was able to visit me like three days a week and my son so that was the great thing about it. It was a little 3-hour drive for her to come to the camp where I was and I was able to get through because of that. That 3 days was everything to me man.

[But I'm home now] The family is fine. My son is 3 years old and he's with me everyday. Me and him boy, Little Ronald.”

Isley also used his time behind bars to speak with his fellow inmates and performed for them. Here is what he had to say about the realities of being locked down, he states,

“…Talking to young people and crying with them and people that were gonna be in there some years and that part really hurts. To see your people and all kinds of people… older people [locked up]. And they looked up to me and like my music and we talked about our career and it was just like that man. I was working at the chapel and I did gospel shows every week and that kept me up… I'm gone do a gospel album too.”

But before the gospel project, Ron Isley is working on a new album for Def Jam and promises that the new album will be something different.

“Some of the people that I'm working with on this album will be Lauryn Hill, T.I., Rick Ross and Burt Bacharach. The group is back and they were just waiting. I would like to also thank L.A. Reid and the staff at Def Jam and Fox Entertainment and Elise Murray.

Just all the people that were just waiting for me to come home and for putting this together and supporting everything I'm doing. I feel like I'm 18 again and starting a new career.”

Look for Ron Isley to be making his come back on stage during Mother's Day Weekend. He will be performing in Atlantic City on May 8th and at The Paradise Theatre in the Bronx, NY on May 9th.

MC Breed's Royalities Not Going To His Wife and Family

MC Breed's widow Natasha Breed has decided to speak out regarding her treatment by the industry since her husband's passing.

In a two part YouTube interview, Mrs. Breed discussed how her life has been since MC Breed passed away two years ago.

According to the interview, MC Breed has over 200 songs on I-Tunes but the family has not received any royalties.

“For all of the young men out there be sure to have multiple lawyers look over your contracts, here he was 18 years old and they took advantage of him. How is it that he has 200 songs on I-Tunes and the family hasn't gotten anything?”

Mrs. Breed also states that she is disappointed in the lack of support that rappers are showing to the family.

“He worked with countless big names and we helped a lot of people,” she states. “The crazy thing is not one of them have reached out to see how we are doing.”

In addition, Mrs. Breed states that although she has received no money, she will not stop until the record company pays her family what they owe.

“For all of the fans out there who have offered their support, thank you and believe me we will get exactly what they owe us. We have five kids that need to be taken care of and I won't stop until they give everything they owe us back, even if it I have to die trying.”

Hip-Hop Loses A Legend: Guru of Gang Starr

Guru, the other half of Hip-Hop Gang Starr lost his battle with cancer Monday night. The co-founder of Gang Starr was 43 years old. The rapper dies a month after collapsing and slipping into a coma.

“According to [producer] Solar, Guru suffered from the malicious illness for over a year and after numerous special treatments under the supervision of medical specialists failed, the legendary MC succumbed to the disease. Guru always tried to keep this harrowing diagnosis in private but in early 2010 he had to admit himself to hospital due to serious effects caused by the disease.”

Gang Starr was formed in 1985 with his partner DJ Premier. Gang Starr had six albums under their belt, including the well-received "Daily Operation" and "Moment of Truth."

Taiwanese Singer Lin Yu Chun Takes America By Storm

Miranda Lambert Wins Top Female Vocalist @ 2010 ACM Awards

Miranda Lambert won for Top Female Vocalist at the 2010 ACM Awards. She also won album of the year for "Revolution," an award and Video of the Year for "White Liar."

The new comer could not believe it when her name was announced. Lambert read off the names of the other nominees — Underwood, Swift, Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack.

"You've got to be kidding me," she said.

The singer also performed.

Brook and Dunn Win @ 2010 ACM Even Though They Are Ending Their Long-time Partnership

Country Music's legendary duo Brooks and Dunn celebrate their career at the 2010 ACM Awards. The two were honored by their peers with some of Country music's best singing their hit songs in addition to winning the Leading Vocal Duo Award.
