ABC feels Prospect Park's lawsuit is "baseless". ABC speaks out five days after Prospect Park filed a breach of contract lawsuit against them for alleged misuse of ONE LIFE TO LIVE characters who were on loan to GENERAL HOSPITAL.
"ABC remains very supportive of the on-line launch of both 'One Life to Live' and 'All My Children.' With respect to Prospect Park's lawsuit, we believe the claims are baseless and we will defend them vigorously in court and not the press."
Here are the details: The lawsuit filed by Prospect Park which also includes a request a jury trial, claims that ABC has broken the agreement and also sabotaging their efforts to continue AMC and OLTL on-line.
Deadline.com reports: "Prospect Park's complaint isn't just about ABC borrowing several OLTL characters to appear on GENERAL HOSPITAL and the recent battle over Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr), Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Michael Easton (ex-McBain). The suit claims that in a gesture of good will, Prospect Park lent seven OLTL characters to ABC for temporary use on GH with the agreement that PP retained approval rights over those characters, which ABC failed to do. Aside from signing the three above-mentioned actors to long-term contracts and then offering them new characters when Prospect Park attempted to negotiate their OLTL returns, GH killed off the OLTL characters of Cole and Hope, and effectively killed off the OLTL character of Tomas Delgado (who wasn't even licensed to ABC) by making him an existing GH character, Lorenzo Alcazar."
The $25 million lawsuit filed by
Prospect Park sure does have a lot of soap drama.
One Life to Live's Tuc Watkins (David) appeared on Marie Osmond's show on Monday and discussed being gay and a new single father to twins.
"A lot of people at some point in their lives think, 'Am I going to be a parent? Do I want to be a parent?'" Watkins stated. "And when I was young, I knew three things. I knew I was gay, I knew one day I was gonna be a dad, and I knew that Gene Wilder's 'Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory' was going to be the best movie of all time. So far, I've been right about all three."
The soap star shared with his fans on Twitter (@TucWatkins)his bundles of joy daughter Catchen and son Curtis who he had via surrogate.
